UTEP is lowering ticket prices for their ESPN showcase.
The Miner athletic department announced Monday that special ticket prices will be in effect for next week’s Tulsa game at the Sun Bowl. All general admission seats will be $10 and reserved seats will be $15. UTEP is also throwing in Thunderstix to the first 20,000 fans in hopes of creating a big-game atmosphere for those ESPN cameras.
Surely the lot of you who don’t have season tickets can scrounge up $10 to attend this one.
This is ESPN. The ESPN. Not with the 2 or 360 or U at the end of it. It’s a rarity. Not even last season’s game against Texas made ESPN. It was relegated to the deuce.
So show up. Make the program look good. If you convince even one recruit watching on TV to sign a letter of intent to come here, it’s worth the price of admission.

UTEP Shooting For Packed Sun Bowl For Nationally Televised Game on Oct. 21
General admission seats are only $10 for the Tulsa game.
UTEP athletic department officials are pushing for a packed Sun Bowl on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when the Miners host Tulsa in a crucial Conference USA Western Division game.
The game will be nationally televised by ESPN beginning at 6 p.m. MST.
"This is our chance to show the rest of the nation what great fans we have here in El Paso, and to spotlight one of the premier game day environments in college football," UTEP Director of Athletics Bob Stull. "Houston and Tulsa entered the season widely regarded as the top two teams in Conference USA's Western Division. We already have a win over Houston, making the Tulsa game critical for positioning in the standings."
Special ticket prices are in effect for this game, with all general admission tickets only $10 and reserved seats only $15 (plus applicable service charges).
Free Light-Up Thunderstix will be presented to the first 20,000 fans that enter the stadium.
The Tulsa game will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Free pink lapel ribbons will be presented to fans as they enter the stadium, Miner players will wear pink shoelaces and coaches will wear a special hat.
Military Night will also be observed. There will be an enlistment and reenlistment ceremony on the field. Military will be honored throughout the game, and military members will be on the field for the Miners' entrance through the Mine Shaft prior to the opening kickoff.
